How to download files from a share link
Open a FileShareFast link safely, pass any access check, review the files, and troubleshoot unavailable downloads.
Maintained by FileShareFast · Updated
A FileShareFast share page lists the files the sender made available. Verify the sender and the URL before opening or downloading unexpected content.
Download step by step
- Open the complete link you received. Avoid shortened or altered versions when you cannot verify where they lead.
- If the page asks for a password, obtain it from the sender through the agreed separate channel and enter it on the access screen.
- Review the share title, file names, types, and sizes before downloading.
- Download an individual file, or use the ZIP option when the share offers multiple files and you need the complete set.
- Let the browser finish saving the file. Large downloads may take time even after the share page has loaded.
- Scan unfamiliar files with security tools appropriate to your device and organization before opening them.
When a link is unavailable
An unavailable link may be mistyped, expired, removed by its owner, or restricted to another account. Ask the sender to verify the original URL and, if necessary, create a new share. Support cannot restore a link solely from a file name.
If the password is rejected, check for copied spaces and confirm that you have the password for this exact link. Repeatedly guessing does not change the share settings; contact the sender instead.
Report a suspicious share
Do not download a file that appears to distribute malware, phishing material, harassment, or other abusive content. Copy the share URL without opening the file and use the abuse report form. Copyright owners or authorized representatives can use the copyright report form.
Common questions
Does a download prove the file is safe?
No. Access controls and transport security do not certify the contents of an uploaded file. Verify the sender and scan unexpected content.
Can an expired guest link be opened?
No. Guest links currently expire after 14 days. Ask the sender for a new link rather than trying to bypass the expired one.
Why did my browser block a file?
Browsers and endpoint security tools may block files based on type, reputation, or local policy. Do not disable those protections just to complete a download; confirm the file with the sender and your administrator.
