Remove EXIF metadata from photos

Photos carry hidden information: camera serial numbers, capture time, software, and often the GPS coordinates of your home. This tool re-encodes the pixels without any metadata and verifies the result before offering a download.

75–85 is visually lossless for most photos; lower values trade detail for bytes.

How to use this tool

  1. 1Add the photos you plan to share.
  2. 2Keep the matching format and a high quality so the picture itself is unchanged.
  3. 3Process; each result card confirms that the output contains no metadata segments.

Before you download

  • Quality 92 keeps JPG re-encoding visually lossless; choose PNG for a pixel-exact copy.
  • Removing the ICC colour profile can slightly change colours in colour-managed apps; most web and social uses are unaffected.
  • Orientation is applied to the pixels before saving, so the photo displays upright without the EXIF orientation tag.

Typical uses

  • Posting photos to social media or marketplaces without revealing location.
  • Sharing screenshots and photos in support tickets.
  • Publishing images on a blog without camera details.

Your images stay on your device

This page processes images with your browser's canvas. Files are not uploaded to FileShareFast or anyone else, and your originals are never modified. Sharing is a separate, deliberate step: nothing is sent until you continue to the upload page and create a link yourself.

Re-encoding writes pixel data only, so EXIF and other metadata are not copied into outputs. Animated images are processed from their first frame. Check important images before submitting or printing them.

Frequently asked questions

How is the removal verified?

After encoding, the tool scans the output bytes: JPEG for APP1/APP2 segments, PNG for eXIf, iCCP, and text chunks, WebP for EXIF, XMP, and ICCP chunks. The card shows a confirmation only when none are present.

Does this remove the metadata from my original?

No. Your original file is never modified. A new, clean copy is downloaded and the original stays on your device.

Is this a certified data-sanitisation tool?

It removes the metadata segments that standard image formats define and checks that they are gone. It is not audited against any certification scheme and cannot remove information that is part of the picture itself, such as a visible timestamp.
