Compress an image to 50 KB
Signature uploads, ID photos, and some government portals demand files under 50 KB. That leaves little room for detail, so this preset prioritizes a verified size and tells you exactly what dimensions remain.
How to use this tool
- 1Select the image the form asks for, such as a signature or passport-style photo.
- 2Keep the 50 KB maximum, or enter the exact limit written on the receiving website.
- 3Process the file, check that text and strokes are still legible, then download.
Before you download
- 50 KB here means 50,000 bytes, which also satisfies a 50 KiB (51,200 bytes) limit.
- For a signature scan, crop to the signature first so the bytes are spent on the strokes rather than blank paper.
- If the portal also enforces minimum dimensions, enter them in the resize fields; a very small limit may not be able to satisfy both requirements.
Typical uses
- Signature images for exam or job application portals.
- Passport-style photos with a tiny upload ceiling.
- Avatar uploads for forums that cap attachments at 50 KB.
- Accepts
- JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, AVIF
- Produces
- JPG (recommended), WebP, PNG
Your images stay on your device
This page processes images with your browser's canvas. Files are not uploaded to FileShareFast or anyone else, and your originals are never modified. Sharing is a separate, deliberate step: nothing is sent until you continue to the upload page and create a link yourself.
Re-encoding writes pixel data only, so EXIF and other metadata are not copied into outputs. Animated images are processed from their first frame. Check important images before submitting or printing them.
Frequently asked questions
Why did the dimensions change?
Quality alone cannot always reach 50 KB. When the lowest acceptable quality is still too large, the tool reduces the pixel dimensions step by step until the file fits. The result card shows the final width and height so you can judge whether they meet the form's rules.
Which format works best for 50 KB?
JPG is accepted almost everywhere and compresses photographs efficiently. WebP is usually smaller at the same quality but some older portals reject it. PNG cannot be compressed by quality and is only suitable for very small graphics.
Can a 50 KB image still be readable?
A typical head-and-shoulders photo at around 400 × 500 pixels fits comfortably. Documents with fine print are harder; crop to the relevant area and check the preview at 100% zoom.
