Create image thumbnails

Thumbnails need consistent dimensions and tiny file sizes. This tool crops each image to the target shape, downsizes it, and names the outputs so a whole gallery can be produced in one run.

How to use this tool

  1. 1Add up to 12 images that need matching thumbnails.
  2. 2Choose a preset size or type your own, and pick which part of the image to keep.
  3. 3Process and download the set as a ZIP.

Before you download

  • Use 'top' crop position for portraits so heads are not cut off.
  • WebP thumbnails are often 30% smaller than JPG at equal quality and are supported by all current browsers.
  • Serve thumbnails at exactly the pixel size you display them to avoid the browser downscaling in the page.

Typical uses

  • Gallery and portfolio grids.
  • Video poster frames for a course platform.
  • Product listing previews.

Your images stay on your device

This page processes images with your browser's canvas. Files are not uploaded to FileShareFast or anyone else, and your originals are never modified. Sharing is a separate, deliberate step: nothing is sent until you continue to the upload page and create a link yourself.

Re-encoding writes pixel data only, so EXIF and other metadata are not copied into outputs. Animated images are processed from their first frame. Check important images before submitting or printing them.

Frequently asked questions

Why are thumbnails cropped rather than squashed?

A fixed-size grid needs every image to share one shape. Cropping ('cover') keeps proportions and trims the edges; stretching would distort faces and text. If you prefer to see the whole image, choose 'Pad' in the fit options.

What size should a thumbnail be?

Match the largest size at which it will be displayed, multiplied by two for high-density screens. A 150 px grid cell therefore works well with a 300 × 300 thumbnail.

Can I make non-square thumbnails?

Yes. Pick a 16:9 or 4:3 preset, or type any width and height in the resize fields.
