Convert WebP to PNG
PNG is the safe choice when you need to keep transparency and open the file in any editor. This tool decodes the WebP in your browser and writes a lossless PNG with the alpha channel preserved.
How to use this tool
- 1Add the WebP files you want to convert.
- 2Leave the background empty to keep transparency, or pick a colour to flatten it.
- 3Convert and download; PNG is lossless so there is no quality slider.
Before you download
- PNG files are larger than WebP. If size matters more than editability, convert to JPG instead.
- A transparent WebP stays transparent; the preview shows a checkerboard behind see-through areas.
- To shrink the result, resize at the same time using the width and height fields.
Typical uses
- Editing a downloaded WebP logo in software that lacks WebP support.
- Uploading transparent graphics to a platform that requires PNG.
- Archiving assets in a universally supported lossless format.
- Accepts
- WebP (other still formats also accepted)
- Produces
- PNG
Your images stay on your device
This page processes images with your browser's canvas. Files are not uploaded to FileShareFast or anyone else, and your originals are never modified. Sharing is a separate, deliberate step: nothing is sent until you continue to the upload page and create a link yourself.
Re-encoding writes pixel data only, so EXIF and other metadata are not copied into outputs. Animated images are processed from their first frame. Check important images before submitting or printing them.
Frequently asked questions
Will the PNG be identical to the WebP?
The PNG stores exactly the pixels the browser decoded from the WebP, with no further loss. Any compression artifacts already present in the WebP remain visible.
Why is the PNG so much bigger?
PNG uses lossless compression that works well for flat graphics but poorly for photographs. A photographic WebP of 200 KB can become a 2 MB PNG. That is expected.
Can I convert an animated WebP?
Only the first frame is converted. Animation is not preserved in PNG output.
