Add a background colour to a transparent image
Transparent images look broken in software that shows a black or checkered background. Fill the transparent pixels with any colour, preview the result, and save in the format the destination accepts.
How to use this tool
- 1Add transparent PNG, WebP, or GIF images.
- 2Pick a background colour with the picker or type a hex code such as #F8FAFC.
- 3Choose the output format and download the flattened copies.
Before you download
- Match the colour of the page, slide, or document the image will sit on to hide the edges.
- Semi-transparent edges blend smoothly with the chosen colour, so anti-aliased logos stay clean.
- Choose JPG once the image is flattened; without transparency it is usually the smallest option.
Typical uses
- Logos for email signatures that do not support transparency.
- Converting transparent PNG stickers into JPG for a print shop.
- Product cut-outs placed on a brand colour.
- Accepts
- PNG, WebP, GIF, AVIF (transparent sources) and any other still image
- Produces
- JPG, PNG, WebP
Your images stay on your device
This page processes images with your browser's canvas. Files are not uploaded to FileShareFast or anyone else, and your originals are never modified. Sharing is a separate, deliberate step: nothing is sent until you continue to the upload page and create a link yourself.
Re-encoding writes pixel data only, so EXIF and other metadata are not copied into outputs. Animated images are processed from their first frame. Check important images before submitting or printing them.
Frequently asked questions
Does this remove the background from a photo?
No. It fills areas that are already transparent. Cutting a subject out of a photograph requires a background-removal tool, which is not offered here.
Why did my transparent PNG turn black in another program?
Some viewers and office suites render missing alpha as black. Flattening onto the intended colour avoids the surprise.
Can I keep part of the transparency?
No. Any colour fills every transparent pixel. Leave the background empty and choose PNG or WebP if you want to keep transparency.
