Profile picture maker: square or circle crop
Avatars are displayed small and usually in a circle. Crop your photo to a square around the face, round it fully if the destination does not do that for you, and export at a sensible pixel size.
How to use this tool
- 1Add a photo with the face near the top or centre.
- 2Choose a size, keep the square, or move the corner slider to 50% for a circle.
- 3Process, check the preview, and download.
Before you download
- Most platforms crop to a circle themselves, so a square PNG or JPG is the safest upload; use the circle when the site displays the file as-is.
- 512 × 512 is enough for almost every platform and keeps the file small.
- A circular PNG needs transparency, so JPG is not offered when the radius is 50%.
Typical uses
- Avatars for social networks and messaging apps.
- Team photos for a company website.
- Author pictures for a blog.
- Accepts
- JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, AVIF
- Produces
- PNG (transparent circle) or JPG/WebP (square)
Your images stay on your device
This page processes images with your browser's canvas. Files are not uploaded to FileShareFast or anyone else, and your originals are never modified. Sharing is a separate, deliberate step: nothing is sent until you continue to the upload page and create a link yourself.
Re-encoding writes pixel data only, so EXIF and other metadata are not copied into outputs. Animated images are processed from their first frame. Check important images before submitting or printing them.
Frequently asked questions
What size should a profile picture be?
400 × 400 is the minimum for a sharp avatar on high-density screens; 512 or 800 pixels gives headroom for platforms that display larger versions on profile pages.
How do I keep my face in the frame?
Choose the 'top' crop position for photos where the face is in the upper part of the picture, or 'centre' for tightly framed portraits. The preview updates instantly.
Why is the circle shown over a checkerboard?
The area outside the circle is transparent. The checkerboard indicates transparency in the preview; it is not part of the downloaded file.
